Shiva Information

Updated June 21, 2019

We regret to inform you of the passing of Pearl Freed, a founding member of Congregation Beth Aaron.

The funeral will take place today, Friday, June 21, at noon, at Louis Suburban Chapel, 13-01 Broadway, Fair Lawn.

Shiva will be observed through Thursday morning, June 27, at the home of her daughter, Susan Hollander, 886 Ivy Hill Road, Woodsburgh (Woodmere), NY. Susan can be reached at 516-410-0645.

Pearl & Harold Freed were early members of Congregation Beth Aaron. Their daughters, Debby, Susan, and Beth, were attracted to Rabbi Uri Gottesman and the youthful membership he inspired in the earliest days, and the individuality and warmth of our shul, which was unlike the establishment shuls of the day. The three sisters brought their parents along once the shul had found a home, and the Freeds fit in immediately!  Pearl & Harold were both teachers, Harold in the Talmud Torah venue as well as in the public school system.  Pearl was a devoted wife and mother, strongly committed to her children’s Jewish and secular education, and proud of her husband’s accomplishments, and especially his knowledge of Hebrew and Judaism.  Together they raised a lovely family.  They became staunch members of Beth Aaron, participating fully in our davening and activities, always willing to lend a helping hand and to host young people.
