Probeh Shabbatot

We are excited to welcome our three Probeh candidates in the upcoming weeks:
January 31: Rabbi Avraham Wein
February 14: Rabbi Ben-Zion Feld
February 21: Rabbi Etan Schnall

In order to allow our community ample opportunity to hear from and meet with the Probeh candidates, below is the schedule developed by the Rabbinic Search Committee and approved by the Board. We encourage everyone to meaningfully engage with each candidate throughout Shabbat.

Friday night:

  • The Rabbi will deliver the Dvar Torah after Kabbalat Shabbat and before Maariv.
  • 8:15 to 9:30 p.m.: Question-and-Answer session in the Social Hall with the Rabbi and his wife. Priority will be given for presubmitted questions. Please see below for how to submit questions. Light refreshments will be served.

Shabbat Morning:

  • There will not be an 8:00 a.m. Minyan on a Probeh Shabbat.
  • The Hashkama Minyan will begin at 7:30 a.m. (please note the change in time); the Rabbi will deliver a short drasha at the Hashkama Minyan.
  • The Rabbi will deliver a short drasha in the 9:15 a.m. Teen Minyan before leining.
  • The Rabbi will deliver the drasha before Musaf at the 8:45 a.m. Main Minyan.
  • There will be a hot kiddush in the Social Hall following both the Hashkama Minyan and the Main Minyan to allow for the community to meet the Rabbi and his wife in an informal setting.

Shabbat Afternoon:

  • 45 minutes before Mincha: The Rabbi will deliver a lecture/shiur on a topic of his choice.
  • Between Mincha and Maariv: The Rabbi will deliver a shiur.

Motzaei Shabbat:

  • 6:45 to 7:30 p.m.: Parent-Child Learning with the Rabbi.
  • 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.: Question-and-Answer session in the Social Hall with the Rabbi and his wife. Priority will be given for presubmitted questions. Please see below for how to submit questions. Light refreshments will be served.
  • The Question-and-Answer session will be broadcast on Zoom. We ask that only those who are unable to attend in person participate on Zoom. To request the Zoom link, please email the Rabbinic Search Committee at rabbinicsearch@bethaaron.org.
  • Unfortunately, we will be unable to take questions from those participants on the Zoom. We encourage you to presubmit questions.

To submit a question or “upvote” existing questions for the Question-and-Answer sessions, please visit onlinequestions.org, enter event number 950950 in the “Audience Member” section, and click “Enter.” You can click “New” to submit your own question or click on an existing question to "upvote" that question. If you want your question directed to a specific candidate only, please indicate that in your question.

Thank you in advance for being part of this important process and for helping us welcome each candidate with the warmth and respect for which our kehilla is known.  We hope you will make every effort to join us, as your presence will help ensure that each candidate experiences the full vibrancy of our community and that you will meet each candidate in a meaningful way.

With sincere appreciation,
Josh Dubin, Pinchas Wechter, and the Rabbinic Search Committee
